    In October 2025, Santee Cooper’s Board of Directors approved a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Brookfield Asset Management to move forward with exclusive negotiations and feasibility evaluation for completion of the units.

    We are working towards a Memorandum of Understanding, which would lead to a final stage of due diligence to determine construction feasibility. That stage could take up to 18 months.

    The Fairfield units will add approximately 2,200 MW of carbon-free generation capacity, helping diversify the state’s energy portfolio, and ensuring long-term economic security and energy reliability for residents and businesses.
